Three charged with drug trafficking after police stop local taxi

Three individuals have been arrested and charged with drug trafficking after Six Nations Police conducted a traffic stop on a local taxi last week.

In a May 8 media release, Six Nations Police confirmed that the traffic stop happened on May 5 and resulted in the seizure of approximately $7,000 in illicit drugs, including fentanyl and cocaine. Police also seized currency, drug packaging and cell phones from the taxi.

Edward Anthony Seery (43), of Delhi, Mikayla Dawn Mcintyre (27) of Simcoe, and Matthew Cowan (26) of Ohsweken were all charged with drug possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl and possession of cocaine contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act.

Seery, Cowan and Mcintryre were also charged with proceeds of crime under $5,000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. Seery was also charged with two counts of breaching probation.

Six Nations Police stated that the three accused were held for a formal bail hearing and all were remanded into custody.

Six Nations Police were not unavailable for further comment to CJKS.
