Retired RCMP Officer Tom Norton is hoping to be elected to Abbotsford's city council this weekend.

Norton served on the RCMP for 35 years and, upon retiring, began volunteering his time coaching youth and high-performance athletes. In 2015, Norton was awarded The Special Olympics North America Coach of The Year. Norton's sports background is the fuel for developing the necessary infrastructure in the city to promote health and well-being, he said.

In a recent interview with CIVL, Norton spoke about some significant issues affecting the City of Abbotsford. Stay up to date with Norton's campaign by following his Twitter @TeNorton.

The municipal elections will take place on Saturday, Oct. 15.
