A political science instructor at the University of the Fraser Valley said that Rush Limbaugh was a key figure behind Donald Trump's rise to power and the state of conservative politics in not only the U.S. but globally.

In an interview with CIVL, Ron Dart said that he believes that Limbaugh was the person who is most responsible for polarizing modern American politics.

Limbaugh died on Feb. 17 after working in conservative media outlets for over 30 years.

Dart says the Republican Party knew the power and influence he held and that is why former President Trump awarded him one of the greatest awards in America during the last State of the Union address: the presidential medal of freedom.

Dart says during Limbaugh's time in the media, he made it acceptable to attack people openly and bear little to no consequences.
