In the new year, Mansons Landing Community Hall will celebrate its 100th birthday.

The hall on Cortes Island first opened its doors in 1922. Since then, Hall Manager Mary Lavelle says it's served as "the heart of the village."

In order to comply with BC government provincial health orders during the pandemic, the hall had to shut down for a long stretch in 2020, but in 2021 was able to resume operations.

Lavelle credits the hall's board of directors, employees and volunteers for their efforts to ensure core services are delivered.
