Despite a decline in volunteers, Terrace Riverboat Days is moving ahead with its 31st annual festival this BC long weekend.

Riverboat Days celebrates the culture and heritage of the pioneers who founded Terrace and the surrounding Tsimshian Territories. It is the largest community festival in northwest BC.

The Riverboat Days Society is run completely by volunteers and its membership is getting smaller each year. This year, the decline in membership in the organizing committee has led to some event being cancelled, like the fireworks display. Even with the challenges, Riverboat Days Society President Kam Siemens said there are new events this year as well as many favourite events coming back, including the parade through Lakelse Avenue then concerts in the park.

The hope is for the festival to continue in the future; the society's members are urging others to join when they start the planning for next years festival come September.
