Nathan Cullen was the MP for the riding of Skeena—Bulkley Valley from the 2004 federal election until 2019.

A member of the New Democratic Party (NDP), Cullen was re-elected in 2006, 2008, 2011, and 2015, allowing him to serve in the 38th, 39th, 40th, 41st, and 42nd Parliaments. During the 41st Parliament, Cullen was the House Leader for the Official Opposition and then Finance critic in Thomas Mulcair's Shadow Cabinet. He was the NDP critic for Democratic Reform as well as Ethics, and deputy critic for Finance in the 42nd Parliament.

This year, Cullen is the candidate to represent the Stikine Region of BC in the upcoming October 24th Provincial election.
