The Servus Credit Union place was rocking over the weekend in the Métis Spring Music Festival, with many singing and jigging competitions, hit St. Albert.

Vice President of the Métis Nation of Alberta Dan Cardinal was in attendance on Friday night. Cardinal has been attending this event since 2009, only missing two years of the event due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He says that the event is loved for the different events like jigging, fiddling and singing.

One of the young talents who graced the stage performing in the men’s youth competition was Colten Bear, who sang his rendition of “Me and the Devils Blues” by Robert Johnson. Bear says that he was excited to perform after time away from the stage during the pandemic.

Daz Collins, a competitor for the adult men’s competition at the festival refers to youth as the future: Collins encourages youth, like his kids and grandchildren, to get on stage to showcase their talents like youth at the Métis Spring Music Festival.
