A survey is underway canvassing Cortes islanders on what they would like to see happening at Mansons Hall, a major community hub providing programs and services to 1,000 year-round residents and summer visitors. It’s governed by the non-profit Southern Cortes Community Association (SCCA).

Recently elected Secretary Cora Moret is overseeing the broad based survey, available to residents online and in print at key locations. She was part of a new slate of candidates elected by members at the SCCA’s annual general meeting last fall.

The hall houses a post office, cafe, thrift store, yoga studio, women’s centre and playschool, as well as a large community hall for events, presentations and performances. Programs include activities for all ages.

Moret says the combination of an ease in pandemic restrictions, and the election of a board composed mainly of new directors, provides the opportunity for an expansion, or change in programming, based on public input.

Moret describes the survey as open ended, without a deadline, which can then serve as an ongoing, fluid collection of data providing direction for the SCCA board over time, and is subject to change.
