Solstice Coffeehouse, an event traditionally hosted at Hollyhock Retreat Centre during its off-season, will now be featured at Mansons Hall on Friday the 22nd. Hollyhock is currently under renovations.

“Mansons Hall is actually a great venue. It's got many good advantages. The capacity is more… it has the kitchen there. Julie's gonna do Christmas treats, holiday food,” Organizer Rex Weyler noted.

Since Hollyhock used to offer their venue free of charge, moving venues will require some added costs. As a result, the Cortes Island Community Foundation and the Cortes Island Housing Society "stepped up" to sponsor the event, which also ensures the musicians get paid.

“Winter time on Cortes, we need to create our own entertainment, our own fun,” Rex said. The Coffeehouse events have been running since the 1990's.
