Skeena-Bulkley Valley is a large area of Northern British Columbia.

The riding is currently represented by NDP Taylor Bachrach, but last month, a press release was sent to media outlets that there will be a Green Party Electoral District Association for the riding.

Dan Mesec, CICK News journalist, spoke with Kara Schaefer, CEO of the Skeena-Bulkley Valley Green Party riding to discuss what gaps they believe need to be filled by a Green presence in the proposed 2021 Federal election.

They are actively looking for a Green Party representative, and ask that anyone interested should contact Kara at gpc.skeena@gmail.com.

Schaefer said "it's important that the candidate is known in the riding and that we see Green representation in the Valley".

As far as mis-steps that the NDP have shown in regards to environmental issues in the Valley, she said "there are many aligning issues between the NDP and the Green Party, both parties care a lot about affordability, health care and Indigenous reconciliation but that one of the biggest differences comes down to environmental policies. The Green Party is strongly against fracking, and this kind of expansion but that they want to work toward a just transition where no workers are left behind but that we ensure a livable future for the future generations."
