Six Nations community member and former National Lacrosse League player Johnny Powless is creating a new lacrosse program geared towards the Under 13 (U13), U15 & U17/18 divisions lacrosse players on Six Nations.

Powless formally played for the NLL's Toronto Rock in there 2020 season. Powless is looking to bring this new lacrosse team which is named "Dewenihoksoh" -- which means "lightning" in the Cayuga language --  to the United States for lacrosse tournaments at a higher level.

Powless says the new program will focus on team building, land training, nutrition and everything it takes to be a good lacrosse player both on and off the floor.

Powless also spoke about the possibilities of playing against other teams as scrimmages to prepare for these high level tournaments, saying he knows coaches at other prep schools. One of the schools mentioned in the interview by CKRZ was Hill Academy an independent private school dedicated to student athletes in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Powless told CKRZ news that the new team could potentially play schools like Hill but did not want to give too many details as more announcements are to come.
