Silhouette Six Nations Jr. A Lacrosse Club officially got their 2022 season off and running. The team opened their season in Orangeville at the Tony Rose Memorial Sports Centre on Wednesday night but were unable to secure the win falling to the Orangeville Northmen by a score of 14-8. Six Nations now shifts its focus to their home opener scheduled for May 15 against the Burlington Chiefs at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena at 7 p.m.
Team President Cody Jamieson spoke on what fans can expect when watching the team after a two year hiatus due to the pandemic. He said "part of our group strategy is to get people back in the building and filling the arena for the boys, trying to create that excitement and buzz in the community that we do have a young and exciting team with a lot of local players."
The Six Nations Jr. A lacrosse club will also be excited about the annual bread and cheese game that will be taking place Victoria Day weekend on May 23.
"It's always a game that's one of our biggest. A lot of people come to our community that aren't there all the time. Bread and cheese brings a lot of families and friends back to the reserve. It's always one of our bigger games. That's why it's being held at 4 in the afternoon so people have time to get their bread and cheese and hit a couple rides if they're there this year and head over," Jamieson said.
