Every Thursday, the Six Nations Community Food Bank drive-thru hands out up to 300 food bags of food to those in need. Before the pandemic, that number reached about 60 bags each week.

Although some people make donations to food banks with canned foods and non-perishable items, Mary Monture, Chair of the Six Nations Food Bank, says the best donation could be a monetary one. This allows them to buy it fresh and to get the best price.

In fact, Monture says each week they have to through out over 60 % of their food donations because they are expired.

She says they have seen a steep increase in the numbers of people wanting to access their services. This is putting greater demand on the staff and volunteers. So they need dedicated volunteers, as well as constant donations.

The Six Nations Food Bank distributes food, thru their drive-thru every Thursday. It also has pet food as well.
