The Six Nations Elected Council (SNEC) has released a new mobile APP. In a press release on Monday April 24 the elected council said in order to carry forward expressed goals using Haudenosaunee values and principles and as a way to guide and advance community programs, and services they recently launched their own mobile application for Apple and Android phones and tablets.

In addition, they said the app will be used to distribute news, events, documents, resources, forms, and emergency alerts to its members. In so doing, they will also increase access for those who live outside the community to services, while increasing efficiency in communications overall.

“As the largest Nation in Canada, making sure we are reaching all of our members with our communications is extremely important and vital; being able to send mass notifications, especially in an emergency, will be a major game-changer in how fast we can communicate with our community,” Elected Chief Mark Hill said.

Chief Executive Officer Darrin Jamieson spoke on the mandate of the communications department and how the app will assist in upholding it.

“Our Communications Department is mandated to keep Six Nations of the Grand River (SNGR) members up to date on band issues and to inform community members about the services, programs and events SNGR departments have to offer, so having an additional tool to fulfill that mission that can reach out to our members quickly through notifications, right to their phones and other mobile devices will make all of our communications more effective,” he said.

CKRZ reached out to council for a comment but did not receive a response before this story went to air.
