Six Nations continues to dominate in every division of lacrosse in Ontario.
Last Sunday (August 20th, 2023) the Six Nations Senior C Tomahawks won the Nobile cup after a big victory against the Wellington Aces. Earlier this week, the Six Nations Lacrosse Senior A Chiefs defeated the Peterborough Lakers for the best-of-seven major series lacrosse final championship.
This is the first time since 2016 that the Six Nations Chiefs are the Major Series Lacrosse (SSL) Champions. The game took place at the Peterborough Memorial Centre and was streamed live on rogerstv.com at 8:00pm ES.
Austin Staats scored three times and added a hat trick, while Warren Hill continued to be nearly flawless throughout the series. This led the Chiefs to a 10-5 victory over the Peterborough Lakers, giving them a 4-0 sweep of the series. The Six Nations Chiefs are now moving on to the  Mann Cup in which will be held the weekend of September 8th in British Columbia.
The next team up in the SSL championship is the Six Nations Lacrosse Senior B Rivermen which is going for the President Cup. The Presidents Cup is awarded to the National Senior B level box lacrosse championship for the Canadian Lacrosse Association (CLA).
The Rivermen are a physically strong team with outstanding community support led by leading scorer Layne Smith who finished the regular-season with 29 goals, 33 helpers and 62 points. The Tournament begins on August 27th at the Toronto Rock Athletes Centre in Oakville and finishes on September 2nd.
The chase is on for the 2023 Presidents Cup & it's time to paddle!
