The doors of a new Indigenous Cultural Centre opened at the Simon House Recovery Centre in the Bowness area in Calgary last Friday.

A special ceremony commemorated the event last week.

The recovery centre safely houses 44 males for the three month recovery program. All residents are 18-years-old or older.

Addictions Counsellor and Intake Coordinator Kerry Gladue spoke with CFWE about this great opportunity and how the centre is helping to save the lives of many Indigenous males.

The centre also provides support for their clients in housing and counselling once they have completed the program.

Simon House has been in Calgary for the last 40 years and has 24 hours support staff on-site. They provide meetings, one-on-one counselling, group therapy and community services.
