Selkirk College’s Tenth Street Campus in Nelson will host their first Intercultural Day event this November.
Intercultural Day is an annual event at the Castlegar Campus that is designed to showcase the diversity of their students and other members of the surrounding community. This year there will be two events, one in Castlegar and one in Nelson.
Bob Hall, Selkirk’s Communications Coordinator says, “in order for this to be the successful event we want it to be, we want the community to come and set up a booth and share it with our students and staff.”
Cultural groups are invited to share their traditions and history however they choose. Their booths can be information based, food offerings, games or activities, music and dance or any other culturally significant practice.
Selkirk College is home to international students from across the globe, many of which are working towards getting their permanent residency in Canada.
The event in Nelson is on Nov. 8, Castlegar’s is on Nov. 16. Both run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
