A new educational tool is being developed by Ravens Reads and Scouts Canada to help the public learn about reconciliation.
Nicole McLaren, founder and CEO of Raven Reads, says they are really excited to create the Reconciliation Box, which contains reading material and age-appropriate books written by Indigenous artists about Indigenous history, culture and reconciliation in Canada.
When Scouts Canada reached out to Raven Reads to begin developing the box, the partnership felt natural, McLaren says, as both organizations share a similar mission.
McLaren says, since 2015, she’s seen a remarkable amount of support from Canadians wanting to support reconciliation but wondering where or how they can help. She says that getting the box is a great way to start and adds that the box will be available this fall.
McLaren also encourages Canadians to read books written by Indigenous authors and to learn about Indigenous stories.
