Telecommunications company Rogers presented its plans for broadband expansion in Prince Edward County to council on Nov. 8, with the project set to be completed by 2024.

With a $140 million dollar investment ($49 million of that from Infrastructure Ontario), Rogers will be laying over 1,000 km of new buried and aerial fibre along the county's roads, beginning at the end of 2022 , to approximately 7,000 underserved properties. Surveying has been completed and permits have been submitted.

Third-party internet service providers will also be operating on the new fibre infrastructure, as mandated by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC).
