Around 45 minutes later officers located the vehicle and tried to stop the driver. "There was contact between the stolen vehicle and a police vehicle. The man exited the vehicle and after a brief foot chase reportedly entered the police vehicle," the release says.

That's when an officer shot him. The release doesn't say how many times, or whether the man was armed.

There is no information on the identity of the man who was killed. There is no information on the officer who shot the man, and if they are still on duty.

Since this is a police-involved killing it is being investigated by the Independent Investigations Office of British Columbia. No more information about this will be released by the RCMP.

On the Independent Investigations Office of BC website, a release states that its office was notified of the shooting at 12:10 a.m. Monday.

The office will confirm the details of what happened leading up to and during the interaction with the police, and what roles the officers' actions or inactions played in the person's death, the website says.
