The Revelstoke RCMP are investigating an incident on the evening of June 15 in the parking lot of the Regent Hotel. A man is alleged to have driven a vehicle into a woman, pinning her to another vehicle and injuring her lower body.

Sergeant Chris Dodds with the Revelstoke RCMP said that B.C. Ambulance Services called the RCMP just after midnight. When the police arrived, the man had fled the scene but witnesses were able to describe him.

The man was arrested a short time later. RCMP recommended to the Crown that he be charged with aggravated assault and dangerous driving of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm. The Crown hasn't laid charges. The man cannot be named until charges are laid.

Dodds doesn't believe the man is known to RCMP and he doesn't believe he presents a threat to the public.

He is alleged to have been stalking to victim in the days leading up to the incident. Dodds said he is working with the victim to investigate this. He said the man has a no contact order with the victim, and that Victim Services is working with her to keep her safe.

Dodds said that if anyone witnessed the incident, to come forward to the RCMP or Crimestoppers.

The man's first court appearance is on Aug. 2.

Stoke FM reached out to the victim's family but did not hear back.
