Revelstoke Mountain Resort was scheduled to open on Sat. Dec. 2, but it announced today in a post on its website that it's postponed due to "unseasonably low snowfall in November."

The resort is now projecting to open on December 9. The resort's latest snow report shows it has a base of 54 cm, and that 160 cm have fallen this season.

RMR says that its operations team is monitoring conditions daily. There is snow in the forecast for the weekend.

Stoke FM is trying to find out if opening day has ever been delayed before, and how much snow is required to safely open. Stoke FM will  update the story when more information is available.
