During this past municipal election, Prince Edward County residents Marley McFaul and Nolan Steen found that candidates were not really hearing them when presented with questions surrounding current youth issues/challenges at the various election debates last month.
After their experience, McFaul and Steen, both 20-years-old, wrote a Facebook post on Oct. 5 that went viral online and was subsequently featured in The Picton Gazette.
They say down with CJPE to share their thoughts on youth and politics in the county:
Looking forward, McFaul plans on a future run for council, while Steen is eyeing an eventual mayoral race.
Currently, Prince Edward County Council is demographically mostly made up of relatively wealthy retired married people, according to Picton Councillor Kate MacNaughton.
