The Rendez-vous loup-marin is adapting to current COVID-19 health regulations and will be holding its 12th annual event virtually the first week of March.

The tribute evening, which honours two important personalities in the seal industry or culture, will take place virtually simultaneously on the internet and on the radio.

The traditional "Seal Dinner" will be served as take-out in three locations and prepared by the Madelinot chef Jacques Leblanc in collaboration with Hugo Lefrançois of the Bistro Accents restaurant.

In an interview with CFIM (French audio below), event coordinator Céline Lafrance details the other elements included in the programming, including an educational activity for young people organized by the Bon Gout Frais des Iles:

Other initiatives to promote the seal culture and the seal hunt are planned throughout the month of March, extending the week of activities.

Due to the pandemic's limits on travel and gathering opportunities, the event is focusing even more this year on promoting and celebrating local seal-related artisans, artists and businesses.

Under the theme Seal on our plate, the event is organized by the Seal Interpretation Center in collaboration with the Association of Seal Hunters intra-québec.
