The RCMP's horseback performing troupe, the Musical Ride, was in the Pontiac on Saturday (May 13) as part of the Municipality of Bryson's 150th anniversary celebrations. It was a double celebration because the RCMP is also celebrating a century and a half this year. The official anniversary of the RCMP is May 23, 2023.

The village that is now known as Bryson was originally named Havelock from 1858-1873, after a British General, Sir Henry Havelock. However, due to another municipality incorporating under that name elsewhere in the province, the town was renamed in 1873 in honour of George Bryson Sr., a local lumber baron and politician (who is also the ancestor of current MRC Pontiac Warden Jane Toller).

Meghan Griffin, a member of the Bryson 150 Committee, said that one of their members reached out to the RCMP to invite them to be part of the town's special day.

She added that the 150th Anniversary celebrations will be continuing with events taking place throughout the year.
