Quadra Island Climate Action Network (Quadra ICAN) wrapped up 2021 with a wide variety of successful projects that focused on sustainability and building community.

The organization has outlined 14 major projects in its recent application for charitable status with the Canada Revenue Agency. Projects are spearheaded by one of the eight action teams: food security, water security, energy self-sufficiency, do-it-yourself support, a free store, local recycling and reduced consumption, transportation and fundraising.

Vice-president of Quadra ICAN and chair of the steering committee, Leona Skovgaard, said the two most popular initiatives of 2021 were the sourdough breadmaking workshop from the food security team, and the garden tool repair workshop from the DIY team.
