On May 26, Prince Edward County approved of a proposal to paint two Rainbow Crosswalks in Picton. In celebration of 2LSGBTQ+ communities and Pride Month, the crosswalks will be installed near the Fairgrounds and near Metro in town limits. The initiative was brought forward by Picton Coun. Phil St-Jean with the funding for the $1,900 project, care of the Picton Business Improvement Area (BIA), being provided for by PEC Community Partners, the property developers who recently acquired the Loch-Sloy Business Park. Couns. Phil Prinzen and Kate MacNaughton discussed the addition of more Rainbow Crosswalks in the County communities of Bloomfield and Wellington, with the latter councillor commenting that these crosswalks can positively impact road safety.
