A dinner to raise funds to help families who have recently relocated from Ukraine being hosted by the Prince Rupert Society for Refugee Support this weekend.

Ray Pederson, a volunteer for the society, says 35 people in the last six months have arrived in Prince Rupert from Ukraine.

The event is being held at the Highliner Inn ballroom on Nov. 5: the dinner will feature homemade Ukrainian foods like pierogies, cabbage rolls, and borscht and will be followed by live music and a loonie auction.

There will also be a photography exhibit happening at the beginning of December which captures Ukrainian land and cityscapes.

‘In Ukraine’ is organized by the Prince Rupert Ukrainian Society, a different society which organizes events like monthly socials, and provides information services around language and permanent residency for Ukrainians.
