Jean Michel Baptiste, a local Prince George citizen, took the initiative to coordinate a "No Space For Hate" rally to counter the 1 Million March for Children demonstration planned for earlier that day, September 20th 2023, at Prince George's City Hall.

CFUR News spoke to Baptiste not only to understand the where and when, but the why. "We really don't want people to leave the North just because they're scared," said Baptiste, "there's a lot of beauty in the North."

Also joining Baptiste in the planning of this event is the group Prince George Physicians Against Hate. Representing that group ahead of the event is Sheona Mitchell-Foster.  Pushback against gender affirming care is something the group has addressed consistently in its advocacy work, and it's expected that the topic will arise on Wednesday.

Mitchell-Foster says, "There's many myths in gender affirming care, especially around young patients. We want to be very clear that gender affirming care is based on a solid body of reputable medical and ethical research."
