On Tuesday night, Prince Edward County council voted to approve public consultations towards a "No Mow May" and revised grass-weed bylaws. No Mow May is to be a voluntary initiative (slated to begin in 2023) where residents will not need fear the force of bylaw grass height limits, so that nesting species-at-risk can be given a chance to thrive in peace.

As well, public consultation is to be done concerning the modernization of property standards and grass bylaws to allow for more natural landscapes with ornamentals and wildflowers, not just lawns of a certain length. Couns. Nieman and Prinzen were against the No Mow May initiative, with Prinzen citing past concerns of the lawns at the graveyard and nursing home not being cut and the resulting uproar as public consultation enough.

In the end, council passed the grass agenda 11 to 2.
