Pontiac NDP organizing discussion of Chalk River waste site this Saturday

The Pontiac NDP riding association is inviting citizens to attend a panel discussion on the proposed near surface disposal facility at Canadian Nuclear Laboratories site at Chalk River. The event will take place this Saturday, May 14 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Université du Québec en Outaouais (Room E0204, Pavillon Alexandre-Taché).

Association President Catherine Emond-Provencher spoke with CHIP 101.9 about the event, and explained that it it would feature several speakers, including local environmental activist Dr. Ole Hendrickson of the Concerned Citizens of Renfrew County and writer Eva Schacherl. The Pontiac NDP candidate for the previous two elections, Denise Giroux will also be present, along with MP Alexandre Boulerice who will be joining virtually. There will also be a musical performance from the Ottawa Raging Grannies, an activist musical group.
