Police are asking for the public's assistance after a suspect fled a fatal collision this morning involving a pedestrian and a SUV on Indian Line near Concession 2 of Townsend.

The collision happened between the hours of 4-5 a.m. on Jan. 3. Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Six Nations Police Services, Six Nations Fire Services and Six Nations Emergency Medical Services all responded to the report just after 5 a.m. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital for life threatening injuries where they were pronounced deceased.

Police stated that the vehicle involved failed to remain on scene and have asked for anyone who was travelling on Indian Line during that time, or people with dash cams and who live in the area, to come forward with any information that could help the investigation.

OPP constable Ed Sanchuk updated the community and said that the vehicle police are looking for is a mid-sized SUV with extensive damage.

"Investigators are currently searching for a mid-sized white coloured SUV with extensive front end damage. The vehicle was last scene heading east bound on Indian Line towards Hagersville. For us and anyone that may know someone with white coloured mid sized SUV that now has extensive front end damage that wasn't there before, to please contact the police," he said.

Anyone with information is urged to call police at 1-888-310-1122 or call Crime Stoppers of Haldimand & Norfolk Norfolk County at 1 800-222-8477.
