At this weeks weekly Six Nations Grand River Elected Band Council (SNGREC) General Council meeting there were few councillors in attendance. However, it was enough to approve the use of several Six Nations landmarks to be used in scenes on an episode of “One Dish, One Spoon”.
The television production was already filmed but still had outstanding approvals needed. 'One Dish, One Spoon' is set to air later this year on APTN.
'One Dish One Spoon' is a television series made by Chef Tonya Brant & her sister Dakota Brant. The name of the series originates from a Haudenosaunee and Aneeshnabee teaching, -- that we have this rich area, it’s only one area that we have, and we call it Mother Earth. The idea is that we all only have one spoon dipping into the same dish, which in modern terminology means we only have so much nutrients on earth. So we have protect our Mother Earth and its nutrients for the next 7 generations to come.
The presentation with SNGREC was presented by production manager of the show Christina Zahare who explained in detail which landmark scenes needed approval which were as followed. A scene from episode 4 titled "Water is Life" was filmed in June of 2022 at the Six Nations water treatment plant. It features images from Six Nations public works such as the Six Nations public works sign, along with the phone number on the side of the building, along with scenes from the Six Nations water treatment plant.
