Like other Canadian non-profits, the Fraser Valley Brain Injury Association has faced unprecedented financial challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the second part of a CIVL interview, Executive Director Carol Paetkau discusses the constraints on the organization and its efforts to maintain revenue.

Paetkau said they did an 50-50 draw and a golf event earlier this year but that it has been difficult to fundraise. The executive director believes that the organization has seen a significant decrease its annual fundraising revenue.

"In terms of people's budgets, they don't have the funding to give you what they might normally have given you. We've had a lot of volunteers step in to support us, that we've never met before, or we never had that support before. But the fundraising is a concern because I know that we anticipate probably a 30 per cent decrease in our fundraising revenue this year."

While finances are tight for Canadians, Paetkau said that donations play a pivotal role in sustaining services provided by the Fraser Valley Brain Injury Association and added hat any contributions help during these times.
