Out with the old and in with the new! On the south-facing wall of the Visitor's Centre in Smithers, a large mural is being erected depicting many facets of Smithers. Of course there are skis, and birch leaves, a campfire, bear tracks, the Hudson Bay Mountain range as well as the Bulkley River.

This is the second mural (of three) coming up on walls in public spaces in this mountain town and the first by youth painter Emerenne Sethko. Emerenne belongs to a family of artists, her father Hans is responsible for a number of murals in the downtown of Smithers.

This project was funded by local businesses and is the second iteration of young artists getting a very public space for their murals.

CICK News also spoke with the artist whose mural will be covered by Emerenne's new piece, Ali Marleau.
