The Cortes Island Museum & Archives Society (CIMAS) is in transition. 

After four years as managing director, Jane Newman will be stepping down at the end of May. Melanie Boyle has started at the museum and has almost completed training. Boyle hopes to inspire a younger demographic to engage with the museum. She says she is taking a patient, observant approach to her new role, restraining from any instinct to make improvements before immersing herself in the role. She is however, supporting several changes and shifts that have been in the works at CIMAS for a couple of years.

The museum is utilizing a new presentation framework involving local guest curators and self-proposed exhibits. The first show of the season, an exhibit by Anne Rosenberg, Reflecting Light, follows this fairly new practice at the museum. The exhibit had its opening day on Sunday, April 24 in Mansons Landing, BC.
