Alderville First Nation’s new council, including incoming Chief Taynar Simpson, was inaugurated Thursday.

As previously reported, Simpson, who narrowly defeated Dave Mowat by just three votes on July 7, is joined by two returning councillors, Nora Sawyer and Jason Marsden, and two new in Dawn Marie Kelly and Lisa McDonald.

Each elected council member for the new term took the oath of office, which was overseen by outgoing Coun. Wes Marsden, who acted as commissioner.

Chief Simpson hopes to get the Alderville community more involved in their government’s decision-making process and one of his priorities moving forward is to get an Elder care facility in Alderville.
