Just last month, Nelson Cares was awarded the 2020 Housing Provider of the Year. One of the housing projects that garnered high praise is the development currently underway at the corner of Front and Hall Streets.

There are 41 rental units, 70 per cent of which will be subsidized by BC Housing and the Columbia Basin Trust for low-income affordability.

The Nelson Cares sign on the building is prominently displayed right on the corner of the intersection, as it will also become home to their on-going services.

And more on the housing front, the Coldest Night of the Year is coming up. In Nelson, the event hit the ground running seven years ago. The fundraiser usually inspires a large group of people, and this year will be no different, although the event's participants will not be able to gather in the usual way.
