Nelson Pride Week adds several new events

The annual Nelson Pride Week kicked off today with a flag raising ceremony at City Hall and this year's celebration has new events in store.

Pride Week is a seven-day celebration of the local LGBTQ+ community consisting of several events for all ages. Nelson Pride added several new events this year including a pride youth party, a Truth Seeker Meditation Class, a workshop about creating safer spaces and a pride worship service. The detailed list of events can be seen at nelsonpride.ca.

A volunteer with Nelson Pride and longtime member of the LGBTQ+ community Michael Wicks says, “with all the new events this year it feels more like a festival.”
