School is back in session and that means college sports are underway as well. Two women from Nelson have begun their next year of collegiate soccer.

Lennox Lockhurst is entering heard third year (second playing soccer) at the University of Regina, and Sophie Bohri is entering her fifth year at the University of Louisiana at Alexandria (LSUA).

Lockhurst says the “team goal this year is to make it to the final four.” To make it to the final four, they will first have to qualify for the playoffs in the prairie division then the winner of those playoffs goes to the final four. Last season, they lost to UBC in the final four. To follow the outcomes of the University of Regina games, visit their Twitter.

Bohri has the same goal in mind. She says, “I’m really hoping we are going to make it to the conference tournament again.” Last year, they lost in the final. She also wants to make the first or second team in the Red River Athletic conference. In previous years, she has made the honourable mentions list. To follow the LSUA games, visit their website.

Lockhurst and Bohri spoke with CJLY about their upcoming seasons as well as some major news in the world of women’s soccer. Listen to the interviews below (Lockhurst 0:00 – 5:34) (Bohri 5:34 – 12:04):
