The Assembly of First Nations (AFN) elections are coming up on December 6th in Ottawa. Six candidates running for the position addressed the Six Nations Elected Council at their Political Liaison meeting Monday November 27.

In this report we’ll hear from the first three candidates, Chief Dean Sayers of Batchewana, Treaty 6 Grand Chief Craig Makinaw and Chief Reginald Bellicose of Muskowekwan First Nation.

Many of the Candidates addressed recent concerns within the AFN and getting it organized before addressing other issues. However, Six Nations Councillors also put questions to the candidates on topics such as the Six Nations Litigation court case (Haldimand Tract) , Metis recognition (Bill C-53), the Indian Act and Regional Chief participation.

In the next report CKRZ News will feature the remaining three AFN candidates
