On Saturday (Feb. 12), staff and elected officials from MRC Pontiac gathered at the Chutes Coulonge Park for the unveiling of the region’s new brand.
The project to sell the territory as a tourist destination and place to live centers around the tag “The Pontiac.14,000 reasons,” a reference to the Pontiac’s area of roughly 14,000 sq. km as well as its 14,000 year-round residents. The launch over the weekend featured a promotion video as well as the launch of their website, Destination Pontiac.
MRC Pontiac Economic Development Director Cyndy Phillips said that the presentation was the culmination of nearly two years of work for MRC staff, in collaboration with marketing consultants Visages régionaux. More than 250 people were involved in the initial consulting process, from all walks of life and from all corners of the region.
Phillips said that they have more planned for the future, including a podcast co-produced by Visages régionaux and Radio-Canada, as well as more videos and branded content.
Pontiac MNA André Fortin was on hand for the event, and said that he hopes the new branding effort entices people to the region.
More information is available on their website Destination Pontiac.
