At the MRC Pontiac’s August council of mayors meeting last week, a resolution was passed approving nearly $70,000 for the paving of the office’s parking lot.

MRC Engineer Kim Lesage said that the amount had been in the budget for several years but only went to tender this spring:

During the meeting on Aug. 18, council approved awarding the $69,000 contract to Jason Hynes Construction Inc. Lesage said the work was expected to begin with the next couple of weeks. She added that they would be encouraging staff that could to work from home, or to park near their entrance on Highway 148:

Lesage added that if the paving starts in two weeks, it will coincide with the Defi sans auto, an annual competition that MRC staff participate in to increase car-pooling and sustainable transportation.

TNO Garage

Lesage also gave an update on the status of the garage to house equipment and vehicles used in the TNO, located near the MRC office in Litchfield. She said that the contracts with the construction companies have already been approved, and the foundation is expected to be poured in September. While the foundation contract was awarded to Josh Pasch, the construction of the garage will be done by Green Hill G.P.
