The development of the City of Mission needs to slow down, according to Mission City councilor candidate Ken Herar.

Herar is on the campaign trail seeking re-election In Abbotsford after first being elected to city council in 2018.

Born and raised in Mission, Herar is a proud family member of a pioneer Sikh family, he says. He regularly speaks on topics of race relations and cultural polarization issues at organizations and schools, as well as on television and radio.

Herar talked about his concerns about the development of the City of Mission - he believes Mission is growing faster than it should, which may become problematic in the future.

"The one thing I'm really concerned about is our level of growth. You know, we have established a lot of housing in Mission, especially a lot of multifamily apartments which I voted for and voted against, depending on how they fit in the community and the surrounding neighborhoods."
