New Hazelton is a village with a population around 600 people, which serves as a commerce centre for the Hazeltons and home to the Hagwilget Canyon Bridge, one of North America's highest suspension bridges.

This term there are two mayoral candidates, newcomer Robert Henwood, a retired logger and volunteer firefighter. He continues to volunteer at the Skeena Bakery and wants to "see a change in government in New Hazelton to shake things up a bit".

His opponent is incumbent Gail Lowry, whose approach to development and infrastructure is slow and steady, and as a retiree of RBC, she has the time and energy to offer her service to the village of New Hazelton.

Elections in New Hazelton are taking place on Wednesday October 13th from 8AM until 8PM Riverboat Building at 4265 Government Street and again on Saturday October 15th.
