Only two candidates are vying to represent Area C of the Strathcona Regional District when BC voters go to the polls Saturday, Oct. 15 to select new municipal governments: Robyn Mawhinney and Marc Doll are in a tight race.

Both candidates are promising to take their lead from the public when it comes to representing Area C, which includes Quadra and Read islands, as well as smaller islands and inlets.

A key issue remains addressing the affordable housing crises. But, the central issue defining the two candidates is how they differ in ways to engage Area C residents.

Doll promises to form a community association, which brings together individual and various organizations so they can reach consensus and speak with one voice.

Mawhinney wants to set up a community advisory council, which would include a wide spectrum of the community members both demographically and geography, along with business, tourism, silviculture, environmental, and Indigenous groups.
