Maritime Paddle opens up shop at Silver Lake with canoes, kayaks and paddleboards for rent

As the town of Sackville puts out the call for residents to participate in another year of Participaction’s Community Better challenge, the rewards of last year’s provincial win in the competition are going into action at Lillas Fawcett Park.

After polling town residents online last year, recreation staff chose to spend the $15,000 reward for being New Brunswick’s most active community on canoes, kayaks, and paddle boards for Silver Lake. They then approached Mount Allison’s experiential learning office to help find some entrepreneurs who might be interested in running a rental business at the lake for the summer. That’s where Bryden MacDonald and Riley Oremush heard about the opportunity, and how Maritime Paddle was founded.
