Locals in Nelson worry over logging rumours at popular hiking trail

A poster and social media posts making the rounds in the West Kootenay region is questioning whether more logging is bound to happen at Mountain Station in Nelson, an area popular with hikers and mountain bikers.

The poster, visible at several locations around Nelson, outlines an area in the lower portion of the station, and tells concerned locals to contact political representatives to prevent more trees from being cut down.

One of the concerned locals is business owner Sam Baio, who told KCR News that he is seeing some worrying signs in the area – but the forest management company Monticola Forest Ltd. says they are only conducting maintenance.
