Kootenay Co-op Radio has installed a new radio tower north of Nelson on Elephant Mountain.
The previous tower was installed on the station’s roof. The new tower allows the station to reach more communities and creates a higher quality signal by broadcasting in stereo, according to the station team. New communities reached include Castlegar, Trail, Salmo, Ymir and areas around Winlaw.
This improvement was one of several new changes announced at the station’s annual general meeting on Nov. 17.
Programming Manager Ed Zych and Sponsorship Coordinator Amelie Sauqet-Davidson spoke about the impact these changes will have for the station and the community.
