The return of live music and festivals has been received warmly in the Bulkley Valley. Pre-ticket sales have sold faster than previous years, and traction online (likes and interactions with posts) has also risen.

Last year, CICK News reported on the 2021 festival season that almost happened, but due to a summer uptick in COVID-19 cases in the Bulkley Valley of British Columbia, all festivals were canceled. So, excitement is up, support of local and regional live arts is up, and we are speaking to festival directors about this years lineup, expectations and safety precautions.

Listen below for Pamela's interview with the Kispiox Valley Music Festival Artistic Director Elijah Quinn.

The Kispiox Valley Music Festival Society came into being in 1994 as a result of an enthusiastic group of individuals hoping to put on a music festival in our community. That first year a group of talented local volunteers designed and erected a spectacular stage on the banks of the Kispiox River fronted by a natural grassy amphitheater. Valley residents spent months creating an environment for the upcoming event. Over fifty musicians and some two hundred volunteers convened on the last weekend in July in 1995 and we had our first Kispiox Valley Music Festival.

The festival continues to be run by many passionate individuals and is always a weekend to remember! Take a look at our gallery of images from past festivals and local places.
